They could achieve good multiples by paying dividends. The question is whether they're wasting as much money trying to grow as they are saving by keeping their profits offshore (and not paying tax on them). I don't know, but at so

Interestingly (I didn't know) the Chinese planes weren't even anywhere near Taiwan. This is an image of their route from Taiwan's defence ministry https://mobile.twitter.com/MoNDefense/status/1443975

No, you should confront and fix child prostitution. Your argument is entirely dismissive of the huge problem with trafficking of children. Why are China and the environment the only things you you care about? /s

This is unhelpful whataboutery. China isn't directly relevant. I could just as truthfully point out that the USA is a disgusting bully and that would be unhelpful too. We wouldn't think it reasonable if someone on trial for embezz

Congratulations on your success in life. I wasn't criticizing people like you (although this thread does seem to have hit a nerve). I was critizing the assumption that you are morally culpable (or indeed praise worthy) for how you run

Arguing over which part of late stage capitalism is morally questionable is a bit like arguing over the correct length of curl in your powdered wig. If they had gone public instead, Intuit could just as easily have bought up all the shares

I get your point, I was just trying to divert the conversation away from an unsubstantiated "domino theory" that seems to be grounded in hysterics and towards analysis of history, geography and geo-politics.

This is fair. I wonder if that will require a new generation of corporation, though. And the current generation of corporate HQs don't look nearly defensible enough. Something more like the Tyrell Corporation Ziggurat will be needed.

It's just as easy to imagine this being most of San Jose because of drought. Or this being every corporate HQ because of the collapse of Western Capitalism in the face of global warming. I'm sure life will go on though.

I suspect most of us have had semi-competent recruitment agents doing the first stage filter for us. When I look at a CV ahead of a 2nd or 3rd stage interview I take it for granted that they are serious about the role and qualified for it.

Don't forget that western liberal democracies look pretty un-attractive at the moment. When the choice is between a raving loony geriatric dementia patient and Trump a lot of people think they'd be better off without.
