Scala for the win. Most of the ruby goodness with non of the performance problems (at high scale (ie Twitter ...), because ruby is fine for most use cases ). Go is fine, but i dont like the syntax and some of the language design choices

but contrary to what people believe you dont create such apps with a big monolitic framework , but by using a lot of little modular libs. Gmail is build on google closure lib which is exactly that.

it's neither new nor a better way of developing apps. That's the issue here. And it is certainly not "best practice".

+1 with that. I dont understand why css framework authors dont namespace their frameworks. That's should be a basic requirement before distributing any css library.

php is not a framework. How many people use bare ruby , bare python or bare java to code webpages ? ( and by the way JSP can be a mess too , so it's not about the language,it's about the brain behind the desk ). Rails , Django and

Move to Python, I'm sure the community can benefit from your skills. I see no future in PHP development. If the core is rotten ,you can have the best libs in the world (symfony,doctrine,...) in the end you still need to face PHP archit

That's why i'm impressed with Symfony and Doctrine. Taking one of the worst language out there , and creating these well crafter libraries , that's insane. I think type hinting and basic POO saved PHP.

Explain me how to do any async operation without a callback in ECMASCRIPT 5 ? You just cant. Callback is the only way to do async in JS <= ES5 .

Php still sucks, but the community is trying to build tools around it to make it better. But it doesnt make the language itself good. To make it good the first things to do would be to remove 90% of its silly "features".

I 100% agree,it is all about the kind of community one wants to build. If your content is trash like in some sub reddits or 50% of the huffpo articles, you'll get the trolls. Some more serious sub-reddits are totally clean of trolls.
