Employees that get and exercise stock options are not accredited investors either. Couldn't they take a similar route? I admit, I ask mostly selfishly (my wife and I are superhosts, we have managed a full-time AirBnB in CA for 2 years)

I heard a podcast discuss the possibility of AirBnB offering shares or options to superhosts (like me) ahead of the IPO–essentially as a "thank you" to the people who helped build the marketplace. Anyone have thoughts on if that i

Options go up/down in value at a different rate than the underlying stock. This is known as the "delta" (one of the "greeks"). More info here: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/delta.asp

Sorry about that bad experience. It sounds like the interviewer wasn't good at communicating. To be fair, it also sounds like you were conflating popular hash functions like md5 with the general concept of a hashing data structure and

Well put. My dad would say (pre-WAR) that it cost him at least 100-150 home runs, likely putting him ahead of Willie Mays and behind only Ruth and Aaron (among pre-steroid era players).

Well fly fishing in general is an activity that requires a good amount of coordination and practice to do well. For Williams specifically, I think it was essentially him applying the same perfectionism, discipline and scientific approach to

Wild to see this on HN. I'm a huge baseball nut and Ted Williams was my father's hero so naturally I learned a lot about him as a kid. I believe this image is from his book The Science of Hitting . Williams has a fairly fascinati

I've used Cameo twice, both times for my wife. Both times were a big hit. I suspect this is one of those startups/services that the HN crowd just doesn't get–but the average person probably thinks its pretty cool.

I blame it in part on "hot take culture". From sports to politics to business to tech, it has become an unfortunate part of public discourse. Think of it like contrarianism or playing devil's advocate to the extreme . I don&

I don't get what introvert has to do with focus. Besides that, if you really need to stay off your phone, consider a "distraction free" phone as outlined in the book Make Time by Jake Knapp. Its a solid book but you can als

I suppose that's a fair point but I've personally looked at that problem as an opportunity. We rented out our house on AirBnB specifically so we could force ourselves to get organized and our kids clean their rooms.

Anecdotally, I've noticed this here on the central coast of California. We don't use Instacart or Uber Eats a lot, but when we do, its usually delivered by women/moms in their 40s or 50s (as this article points out). I will p
