What about MP3, MP4, H264 etc? Aren't they good examples of successful formats despite the necessary licensing fees etc?

Thanks for answering, I appreciate. I found good documentation in https://mariadb.com/kb/en/lock-in-share-mode/ but I am not sure how it works in Postgres: https://www.postgresql.org/docs/

Exactly same experience. Hearing disabled and using subtitles whenever I can. The generated ones are not good at all. The more unusual wording (i.e. full of technical terms or custom names) the worse it is.

As someone with colorblindness who often struggles with reading colors on maps, this would be a lifesaver if used. I love it.

I would rather argue that we make scientific discoveries to predict the future and minimize surprises. The discoveries themselves are often indeed surprising. But once we understand things (electricity, magnetism, gravitation) we can predic

How does the property tax work in the US? How big is it? There is a similar concept in Poland but the values are relatively low and I don't think they affect the economy of cities much. Also, it doesn't get bigger if you renovate.
