Wow, nobody's scolded you yet for breaking site guidelines. I'm amazed the subject of vote manipulation is so taboo on this site, especially when half the people here know how easy it is to do, given the proper resources.

These isn't something vague, we're talking about a specific authoritarian government who's already been caught manipulating social media. https://about.fb.com/news/2019/08/removing-cib-china

Seeing the same results on my end for that query. I'm a little puzzled, when I use the same query but with != instead of = to produce a 1.6 trillion row result, it's about 3-4ms execution. I don't know why it's taking 10

I abused LEFT JOIN to create a query that produces 224,964,999,650,251 rows. Only 3.68ms execution time, now that's impressive!

There's a whole subculture of the internet obsessed with "gang stalking" and they're usually dismissed as just being paranoid. I wonder if at least a small number of cases are actually occurring, and we should be taking

I understand the need for Cloudflare in this case, I just didn't realize it was being used at first and got rather excited about the prospects of self-hosting. I don't mean to insult, I just got a false impression and wanted to ma

I was impressed by the performance, especially with ExpressJS, and started digging deeper until I noticed "cf-cache-status: HIT". What I'm seeing is not really a "self-hosted website", but a Cloudflare-hosted cache

I'm not convinced all the recent research on "conspiracy theorists" is objective science. It seems politically motivated to me. What bugs me the most is that authoritarians will use this as "scientific proof" that p

What are you talking about? This thread already had multiple comments about how fast it disappeared, I just responded to one of them. I like HN, and I'd believe abusing the flag system is hurting the site. I see people talking about th

I already have. So far it's been ignored entirely. You can talk about manipulation of any other social network here, but suggesting HN is being manipulated is oddly taboo.

Which makes talking about manipulation of HN on HN very difficult.

I've noticed that if you even try to talk about the manipulation of HN, things like abusing flags to get posts buried, the comments get downvoted. Certain posts disappear very quickly, and there's almost always a clear political r

Was the fact that it kept spreading not strong evidence of human to human transmission? It seems they just went with the Chinese government instead of asking why people kept getting infected.

Apologies, I should have explained it differently. 0.999... implies a number infinitesimally smaller than 1. You wouldn't use 0.999... in a hyperreal system because you can represent it directly. I shouldn't have mixed different s
