Actually Git isn't quite so entrenched as you think. Perforce is still the norm in the games industry, for example, partly because it's more artist-friendly.

I had that experience. I learned Dvorak and my touch-typing form got a lot better (as you would expect..) I then went back to Qwerty (it took a little while to switch back..) and retained the better form.

I think the implication is that it's Ok to sign in to iCloud after the installation (and enable all the iCloud sync services). But the login account should be local only.

Built-in bash 3 on a Mac is deprecated. But you can use Homebrew to install Bash 5 and make it the new default. Which is what many developers do.
