There's no such thing as "metro dogs" in Moscow. Stray dog population is insignificant for a 15mil city, and while there is nonzero chance for a dog to somehow get into subway foyer, i've never seen one. Another piece of

I believe, sooner or later, MS will put some arbitrary restrictions on .net or some part of its toolchain, forcing users to purchase a license to make it usable. It will probably involve "cloud" to sign/notarize your binarie

Meh. In the end, Microsoft will betray those who trusted it. Long term, better just to pretend it does not exist and never, ever depend on anything with Microsoft name on it.

Before the mass EV adoption, shouldn't we upgrade the power grid? The Brits call it "TV pickup", the synchronized surges of electricity consumption, by electric kettles and such. Now consider 10s thousands of EVs start chargi

I'd rather look into innovative formwork construction and cast-in- place concrete (pr slap labels here: concrete-like, energy-efficient green, zero-emission, insulated).

Are there legit cases where monkey patching native funcs is justified? Many scanners report this as vulnerability, so I would expect browsers and standards bodies to eventually prohibit messing with native apis.

Your point makes sense. My distrust comes from the fact that $militaries keep separate versions for toys they export/publish vs toys they use. See: M1 Abrams export variants, cryptography export laws (limited key lengths; restrictions

Thanks for an interesting read! Now, time for a thought experiment. Imagine Tor was instead developed by Russian researchers working for Russian ministry of defense at the time. Would you use it to visit rt.com blocked in your country?

Tor was developed by US military and is funded by dept of state. It should not be trusted. Better set up your own tunnel/vpn on a host you control.

I skimmed the article and looks like they didn't try to compare the font from two different PCs. I think it may be a uniquely generated/procedural font, identifying a specific installation.

There's also webp and heif and png and svg, and I believe all the existing formats already solve the image compression problem. The difference of 18kb vs 22kb from hours of microoptimisations is frankly irrelevant given the rate of net
