That sounds pretty nice compared to the GCP world where every issue is your issue and you need to pay for support or forget it. Last time they fucked up, I had to raise the issue in a public bug tracker to which I got one of those "not

What do you mean? There's plenty of examples on Android where users have been tricked into sideloading malicious apps.

Can't wait to have five different App Stores and be forced to install a spying app with full system access upon entering undemocratic countries. The average person does not care about the "walled garden." They want a phone th

If you like smart motorways, you'll love my new invention: smart planes. By flying without oxygen masks, life jackets, and seatbelts we can shed a significant amount of weight. This will reduce the emissions per flight and save the pla

Thanks. The law is kind of silly. A chat system that doesn't store history is functionally equivalent to an unrecorded call, but I'm guessing they would not consider an unrecorded call destruction of evidence.

Thanks, I'm not familiar with what a legal hold is. Would they be obliged to take audio recordings or minutes of meetings due to this?

Pardon my ignorance, but why isn't Pichai allowed to have chat conversations that don't record history? Was there a case against Google already that bans this or something? And couldn't this just be circumvented by having an

What law does it break if you publish a package that displays a popup and somebody else voluntarily downloads and executes it? There's no maliciousness, no harm done, yet somebody would find a way to get you prosecuted for it because t

Those replies from Google are infuriating. I hate that kind of condescending, overly polite corp-speak. It's like talking to an LLM.

Way too much risk for too little reward. All it takes is a couple of the wrong people to catch wind of what happened for it to spiral into hysteria and a phone call to the authorities, and the next thing you know you're being charged f

The link is 404 but maybe you have a point there. I don't think this alone is enough to make me want to use Pulumi over Terraform though :)

I see what you're saying but I also don't. Developers can't be expected to maintain the infrastructure too, there's an immense amount of work involved to keep it reliable and secure.

The project I'm on involves dynamic infrastructure. I don't see any benefit Pulumi provides over Terraform in this regard. In fact, Terraform's module system is more convenient if you want to do per-tenant infra versioning fo

Does modding need to mean actually modifying game files? When we say modding, we generally mean adding new blocks, items, and behaviours no? Surely this could be done with a public API? It might not give you quite as much freedom as existin

It's a shame Bedrock modding (behaviour packs?) is so limited. The performance is so much better than the Java version. It's also a shame it has Xbox shit and microtransactions shoved in.

The modding/custom server situation with Minecraft is so exhausting. I can't believe after all these years there is still no official modding or plugin API. So now we have Folia, which is a fork of Paper, which is a fork of Spigot

As a Garry's Mod veteran, S&Box looks like something entirely different. Although Garry says it's a kind of sequel, it doesn't look like it is. It's more like a meta game engine. Or metaverse (god I hate that word.)

I'm sure it was worth making breaking changes to make Kubernetes more "inclusive"... whatever that means. As if Kubernetes ever excluded anybody, or "master" referred to slavery in any way.
