Downvotes are hidden now. I'm not sure they actually have enough information to determine video quality anymore. Its all about gaming the algorithm's "engagement" metrics. No one cares if you enjoyed yourself any longer.

Its true, though. Pick half a dozen news articles from 2+ years ago, then find the current state of information we have on what happened. Its pretty obvious that journalists lie, embellish, misrepresent what their sources tell them, or simp

I thought I was remembering a single specific event, but maybe not. Plenty of sources none the less. https://www.independent.co.uk/space/russia-china-attack-us-s... This one might have been the one I misremembered, but

While I agree with everything you've said, I also see that steady, incremental progress is being made, and that as we identify problems, we're able to fix it. I also see lots of money being thrown at this and enough people finding

I'm getting superfluous search results because of recent news, but yes, this was a decent news story many years ago. The US basically said "fair enough."

China killed one of our spy satellites with a ground-based laser. I think a good rule of thumb is if we can shoot it down, its trespassing.

Why does that sound like BS? That's a fairly standard drone shape.

I wonder if they're trying to figure out what we can detect and we're giving them all the information they need by publically shooting these down.

Well, I did complain about how these things are worded - I thinking the framing is misleading.

I hate how that's phrased. No one is ending single-family housing. They're legalizing multi-resident housing.

I'm confused. Was the AI wrong? Are we mad that immigrants commit a particular type of fraud at higher rates? Because then we're just mad that an algorithm discovered a truth our social norms don't normally allow us to openly

I'm very much just predicting the next word when I talk. I don't know the grammar of the sentence and everything I will say when I start the sentence. I just start talking and try to hit the right notes and, if its a topic I'

The problem is people weren't wrong about the internet. In fact, they couldn't grasp the magnitude of the problem it would create, and the complete transformation it would have on media, politics, and culture.

I'd love for us to abolish tipping, but I don't really get a say in it, because these are expected wages and I can't just say "no, I want to keep my money." Its a social norm, not something we all voted on.
