The bit is still a bit, but if the bit is generated at the beginning of a cycle it might have more voltage than at the end of the cycle and this difference could be discernable in the electromagnetic environment around the processor, which

Don't be silly, bits are ultimately conveyed via analog electrical impulses. Speakers consist of air compressors under electro-magnetic control. The analog emissions of a bit-carrier have as much impact on the acoustic element as an ex

I used paper plates and wooden spoons for over a year when I didn't have a dishwasher. I think I ultimately saved water and definitely saved a lot of time.

The way I was taught, you use the comma for a brief aside--em dashes are used for a larger diversion (and parenthesis are for the most tenuous connections.) In other words a reader should be able to skip reading the contents of parenthesis

No it isn't--double-hypens are a great alternative to an em dash and are interpreted as such by many people and some software. GP's argument is for the grammatical functionality of differentiating dashes, not the specific symbol

I once worked at a place where the owner would come by and dive our own dumpsters once a week, then he'd come in and chastise us if we'd thrown away something like a broken stapler he thought could be repaired. It was weird though
