Does anyone have data on how thinking in a certain language relates to problem-solving skills? I know that e.g. for any programming related task I automatically switch to English, even though I'm not a native speaker. I wonder if you could

I could see this take off in the startup community, just order a 3-month supply before you start coding. If you do this right & "sell the dream" then it could work for much the same reasons those crappy nutritional supplement products w

This is exactly why I think this kind of article is appropriate for HN. If you know as an entrepreneur that you are operating in a closing window of opportunity before the big crash comes, how does this affect your startup decisionmaking? A

Whatever happened to studying for the sake of it? You know, like learning new things & stuff. When did that shift from studying as exercise for the spirit to studying as a way of fattening your wallet come about?

I still puke a little bit in my mouth whenever I read the name PubSubHubbub. Is there an award for "Worst Protocol Name Ever" I don't know about? Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of pubsubhubbub, especially from a resource consumption PO

I would think that news about U.S. bankruptcy should be of interest to the startup community, so let's maybe re-orient this discussions towards: "Does this kind of doom-and-gloom news also scares the crap out of you as a startup founder?

"I think most charities are an utter waste" ... More or less of a waste than how our taxes are spent? While there are some awful charities out there, there are plenty who offer detailed oversight of how donations are spent. Those tend to ca

Taking home 66% after taxes / healthcare is considered normal in large parts of the world, so why are Americans so much more likely to make a fuss about it? [Edit: jswinghammer enlightened me below: "Our taxes go to fund bankers and wars."

Happened to my father & it was the most agonizing experience I have seen him go through. Kidney stones cripple you with pain, you can't sit, you can't lie down. It rips basic comfort out of your life for weeks on end.
