I've been looking at gamification for my startup & I feel ambiguous about it at best. Especially when applied to healthcare issues. There are plenty of simpler things you can do that will have a better impact long-term. One thing gamifi

Make that 6 figures. You do know that 'Plop' is an insanely popular children's show in Dutch-speaking countries, right? Maybe you should talk to the producers? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kabouter_Plop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stu

The Phono guys were great in helping me integrate this on http://pitchpower.appspot.com . There was a small bug on their side & they fixed it in a few hours. I don't really have time to continue develop pitchpower right now, but I coul

Another reason to downvote tl;dr comments is that such a comment is simply not up to the quality level expected at HN. If you can't be bothered to read the original article & post a thoughtful comment, simply don't comment.

Thanks, this was an amazing event to follow, even only the stream. The chatbox action was also interesting at times, except for the inevitable trolls. Good job Justin.tv

I figured as much but wanted to ask anyway. btw. I looked at some old logs and GoogleBot indeed does 'the right thing': no funny characters in there.

Thanks for the data point, I'm pondering which direction to go with this: community (pitch & receive some free traffic) or service (pitch until you're pitch-perfect ... ha)

I just saw your pitch generated about 100 pageviews, do you see any traffic on your side?

I'm not really looking forward to that. With each upgrade comes that little bit of agony about the unix underpinnings: what are they going to do to the default python install? Ruby? ...

you're talking about up/down votes, right? I'm a bit torn on that: implement it on PitchPower or allow the conversations to take place on existing sites like HN / Reddit?

I actually tried out the twilio audio transcription and it was really crappy so I removed it again. When even only 10% is transcribed wrong on a 20 seconds pitch it gets really painful quickly.

I've been using Macs as my development machines since before Darwin became OSX and that's the only thing that frustrates me sometimes: decent package/library management like on Linux. I've resorted to isolating these issues in VMs running L

Yeah, you were the first one to do a real pitch & I was thinking the same. Be a little more positive & articulate clearly. Feel free to try again! ;-)

To anyone else who's trying: you can use Google Voice to make free international calls. Something I sadly only found out after spending some $$$ while building this thing.

ok I get that, good point. It'd be an opt-in service of course. FYI: while Twilio returns the caller ID, I'm not actually storing that right now, so no worries.

From the article: "if your criteria are productivity, efficiency and consumer satisfaction, it makes perfect sense to withdraw funds and material support from the humanities". I think I've said it before: if we'd let engineers design our ho

I've actually started using a VA to 'google' for me, although the tasks I give him are more 'research' than a dumb 'google'. One of the interesting side-effects is that I get results I don't expect because he doesn't have the early adopter

Funny how times have changed ... 10 years ago we'd have a 'no-release on friday' policy to allow everyone to have a nice weekend. Now that lots of weekend projects grow into 'startups' the opposite makes sense. Most calendar software has an
