I used to adore Adobe, but it all changed over time. It started when I only needed Photoshop, and yet Adobe insisted I install several other chunks of software for services I didn't want or need. In the end, I finally found a solution that

We can also demand vendor free CSS from our contractors and developers. I've had to ask several contractors, usually younger developers, to please not use prefixes. They comply, but clearly think I'm too old school because CSS 3 is what all

I envy the rush this developer probably got when he figured this out. Sweet, sweet, code rush... ahhh. If someone could bottle that feeling, caffeinated sodas would go out of business.

For anyone who has followed MCSFT over the years, this kind of behavior comes as no surprise. What does surprise me though is how many people (usually younger) think MCSFT can do no wrong, as evidenced by Gate's significant philanthropy. I

I started using BB Edit way back in the day, and at the time the price was pretty reasonable, like $50 or so. I asked another developer once why he preferred TextMate to BB Edit and he said that BB Edit was too expensive. I went to look and

How much of this kind of thing is a by-product of marketers as well? I've seen more then a few events where the people who actually did the development were excluded to accommodate business partners and clients. It's not that marketing nece

I agree with the general principals here, but the audience for resumes (the HR people) don't always know, or even care, what GitHub is -- whether they should or not isn't the question. They're trolling through dozens of applications and mak

Since when does "open web" imply that its okay to put a wrapper around content that costs the CBC a significant amount of time and money, which they then give away for free, and sell that for your own gain? Unlike the programs you mention,

I think ClearChannel maybe missing the point. With terrestial radio you only have some many listening options, and CC was voracious in taking over as many stations as they could, then driving costs down by homogenizing across their stations

In my experience, Comcast has one thing that Netflix doesn't: customers that hate them. 1. Comcast is expensive. My rates have nearly doubled, but I haven't seen any change in my service or their offerings. 2. Comcast wants you to install t

I wasn't trying to say phone malware didn't exist, my point was more that comparing the latest trends in Android exploits to browser exploits didn't really match up. I could have done a better job of saying that.
