We use a columnar database and we insert data to it periodically (30s to 90s) using Kinesis as middleware. Files are immutable and each insert creates [count of columns] * [count of tables] files. The database also periodically merges the b

Nice! Instead of generating Markdown files, you could also generate full HTML documentation similar to Slate. The generated Markdown files can be used in Slate since the format seems to be similar. Actually I opened an issue in swagger-code

It's relatively new in the industry to make money from open-source projects. There are enterprise companies such as Redhat but startups usually scared open-source because of your concerns. I admit that Sentry's approach is actuall

You first try self-hosting but when things get serious, you usually switch to SaaS version of Sentry because maintaining an extra server and an application which you don't familiar with is not that easy. Open-source is actually a marke

This is huge. It seems to me that it's similar to BigQuery but has many other features that I didn't see in other databases. AggregatingMergeTree is especially one of them and allows incremental aggregation which is a huge gain fo

It looks like TrailDB solves a particular problem (which is actually quite common btw) the right way. However the language barrier makes it hard to use it as DB. I believe that Python binding is nice for development environment but in produ

All these things make the websites the new apps. Most probably we won't need to use many desktop applications a few years later.
