just noticed; very awesome. For some reason this editor gives me the same feeling I had "back when I was little" when I was using IDE's like Turbo Pascal's. It just feels... modern retro!

Lovely.... Now to get some command line utils to interact with a clojure repl and some form of splits (i.e. for documentation). This is actually something I might contribute to! :P edit: async is already in... mea culpa

Started out with a small project; even a rewrite in a different language would not matter that much (a 40 hrs writeoff or something). As long as it increases developer happiness; I'm game with whatever language. :D

Perhaps I can set you up to have a short talk with my wife; she's does compliance work for expats and is - hence - familiar with legislation. Either she knows what to do or can point you to someone who can help you further. Shoot me an

In this case; this is absolutely true. But compare this to e.g. the Airfrance crash a few years ago... The AF case was (also) presumably caused by pilot error - i.e. the pilots continueing to pull back on the stick - but this was a concious

Perhaps contact the author of submitted link? I'm fully open to setting something up; 10+ years of vim usage behind me, just inexperienced in writing up this kind of stuff. Might still give it a shot though :P

Thanks for the insights! I think you phrased it more like I actually think about it. You're absolutely right about 'instilling a bond of trust'.

The concept of love would be hard to convey, but the fact that dad (and/or mom) won't stay mad, will give them food, will put them into a warm bed, etc. is something you - imo - can teach them.

So would you start hating the killer or start hating yourself for not teaching good vs bad. Plus - considering the other comment - the concept of permanency is - at least in my very short experience - a difficult concept for a toddler.

The unconditional love thing... Times +Inf... I'm a pretty result-driven person myself, but can't think of anything better to teach my kids than to know they're loved whatever they do.

We usually ask a candidate to built some toy application and describe his process rationale to use. But only after we had an actual interview. Depending on level of experience this will take him/her somewhere between 1 and 6 hours (if

I know the distinction between the two ;-) While my boss charges something like EUR100 an hour, I make less than 25% of that (after taxes). O.t.o.h.: The salary is quite competitive around here (41k EUR a year, 40hrs/wk, 25 days off)

I don't disagree with you, but some people might actually have problems 'understanding' metaprogramming; the same way some people have difficulties understanding pointers, or working through TAoCP/SICP/HTDP. Problem

I combine stuff at my job. Development and Management is split 50/50 a.t.m. This of course might change to more management if that part of the jobs demands more time. Nothing wrong with becoming a manager if that's your thing. But

Not THAT much more experience probably ;-) You're - again IMO - right about it being only one of the factors. The reason we hire mostly 'youngsters' (damn, never thought I would say this before reaching 30 myself) is that &#x

Personally I don't look at age when considering applicants... Ok, not true. At this moment the company I work for employs mostly young people; i.e. twentysomethings and an oddball 30-35'er. I would actually prefer to hire a 30-40
