Raspberry 5 is a dud, either go 4 or 3588 CM: http://move.rupy.se/file/radxa_works.mp4 Or in a uConsole. Also Risc-V tablet: http://move.rupy.se/file/pinetab-v_2dmmo.png Not as battle hardened as

CPU is now the bottleneck for games that struggle, which makes sense since GPU most often is configurable, while gameplay well is the hardcoded gameplay. See PUBG that has bloated Unreal so far past what any 4-core computer can handle becau

When it comes to: "is it better to throw away the 6600 and replace it with a 5600, than keep running the 6600" I'm torn but: you probably need to use the 5600 for maybe 20 years to compensate for it's manufacturing energ

We have gone through this if you look at my comment history. Yes you can do everything, but not without added complexity, that will end up failing faster. We have peaked in all tech. Nothing will ever get as good as the raw peak in longevit

Is it worth to keep your old CPU? I still run a 6600 (65W peak) from 2016 as my daily driver. I have replaced the SSD once (MLC lasted 5 years, hopefully forever with SLC drive from 2011?), 2x 32GB DDR4 sticks (Kingston Micron lasted 8 year

It might work for file storage, but I don't think the OS drives can be raided in a way that is hotswappable?

No MLC lasts 5 years tops. I have 5x SLC (40-60GB) drives from 2010 still running. Not a single SLC has failed for me ever. I also have 5x MLC (120-400GB ones) drives that failed. All MLC have failed for me. The stats don't look too go

I looked at those, too expensive and hard to use one drive on 30 computers.

As you increase Hz you increase energy and then your components fail faster. The point is "the 1000 hour computer" = we are going into rent seeking hardware. I'm obviously not going to use 30 SSDs in one computer. You can goo

You would think that, but I also have Samsungs industrial 3.5TB drives and they are flaky at best. Eternal growth does not exist, SSDs peaked in 2011 for durability without complexity. Just like DDR3 has the lowest CAS latency with ok bandw

The best SSD purchases of my life was the last Intel X-25E (64GB 45nm SLC with 100.000 writes per bit from 2011) I found on ebay ~2021. I ordered one first expecting it to be used or fake, but the packaging looked good (original and untamp

So far everything after epoll that I have compared with falls short. So to reimplement my foundation (with all the bugs) will not be worth it. I will however compare Javas NIO (epoll) with the new Virtual Threads IO (without pinning). http

I think player is a misnomer here. Multiuser editing would be better. Also websockets are complicated. So are WebRTC or HTTP/2+ solutions. HTTP/1.1 Comet-Stream is still the silver bullet even when ISPs try to block them, it'

dTPM means it removable on motherboard. fTPM means it's in the CPU or some chip soldered to the motherboard? They cannot distinguish between the dTPM and the one that is soldered? Because the one soldered is signed by the motherboard m

Adding to this you want the struct to be exactly 64 bytes, even on Apple MX processors which have 128 bytes of cache.
