Ok, I was confused by "minimize memory usage by maximizing Copy-on-Write performance"... That said: Static files never should be chunked. Chunking is ONLY interesting with dynamic responses.

When you chunk responses you save memory as the only buffer you need to keep is the chunk?

It's a bit too late to try and shoehorn half-floats into the mix. They are super good for so many things but to have converting back and forth for different systems is over engineered, so before ALL systems support them they probably w

I think stating the cap of 2.500 players was good is an afterthought, nothing would limit keeping the small scale with more players on a larger area? Idea: Persistance is value because scarcity is valuable. The final definition of the final

Isn't HTTP/1.1 transfer encoding chunked a simpler solution to the same problem?

That is the point, before most remote was global now they are local. The whole point with remote is the global part. That with the internet anyone can work with anything anywhere.

Todays websites are overengineered, but they load fine over multiple sockets (without HTTP/2.0 TCP head-of-line bottleneck), also I have 1GB/s symmetric.

I just renamed update.exe (chrome complains about that when you boot it once), simple if you can live without the eternal update cycle they (FMAANG) are pushing down our throats since hardware does not improve anymore.

Well, yes until KWh goes ballistic for eternity. I have the fan on my 1030 on a PWM thingy and make it spin faster when I game to keep it under 60 celcius for longevity... When gaming there usually is noise in my ears through the headphones

I have spent countless hours trying to get hardware to be silent. The only way to do this reliably and without fire hazard is to passively cool the hardware completely by having HUGE heatsinks and THEN you can add a fan that you slow down w

How far off can you be: electricity is never going to become cheaper. Right now playing 5 hours of 1060 PC games costs $1 in EU. To even think of selling something that draws more than 30W is ridicoulus. The metaverse has to scale DOWN to 5

That article makes no sense for someone who know how things really work. There is no physical way cloud gaming can be faster than local. Probably that game only shows the fire after the server replies.

The internet is the final medium and media. But energy is finite. So he's both right and wrong at the same time. Eventually he will be right when we reach Mad Max without cars.

Yes, I had almost given up on modern solutions but this might just lead to something! wasmtime.dll is 8MB... if the micro runtime .dll is around 1MB I'm giving it a try! Edit: Looking at source sizes it could be 500KB! But we'll s

The problem with cloud streaming are 2 fold: 1) The latency will always be a problem, and for me low latency gameplay IS the reason I play games. 2) When the cloud providers electricity contract runs out the cloud service will cost 10x.

I would guess with all settings at lowest 60 FPS. Edit: 20 FPS apparently sad... As all games for eternity. If you release a game that doesn't it will end up in historys waste basket together with 2077. The games I did try on it are: P
