It was a hobby I did in college. Then, the usual -- browsing subreddits, niche forums.

I disagree. Building in public is public roadmap, being active in forums/chats as a rep of your product, putting out questions on debated topics, and of course, screenshots. The meaningless info you're referring to are IMO copycat

I build in public and think about these two things often. As an indie dev, I make around $800k per year on my two saas companies. Copycats: There have been some, but the saas companies that I've build have such a hard cold start proble

People keep talking about laying off half the company like it's a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of negative factors to laying off staff and I'm not denying those. But anyone who has worked in a large org, espe

Does it work with tmux? I need to run my code in one pane and send commands to a console in another pane. I use this feature at least 100 times a day. edit: it does work with tmux

The pound was .87 ten days ago and it's .92 now, up from it's low of .93. It doesn't appear recovered to me.

I use stripe as well, but I found offering PayPal upped paid user conversion rate by 30%. I really have no choice but to support it.

I know this isn't an answer to the question, but an observation I'm seeing and experiencing personally. I spent my 20s and 30s gathering wealth in the US, helped built 2.5 unicorns, and saved enough for an early retirement. In my

I'm a solo dev doing $700k yearly across two saas products. I'm also the founding engineer at Reforge (e.g. I've done the VC game from A16Z). There are two things I look at when raising VC. 1. What's the TAM of my produc

I believe there are fewer and fewer "American Dream" jobs, to where you can start from nothing and emerge financially independent with a decent retirement (e.g. doctors, lawyers, programming). Convicts really only have a few reali

I've also been to prison. My story is homeless at 20, no friends or family, in debt about $20k and just got out of prison as a convicted felon. Now I've built 2.5 unicorns, one of which I helped start. Right now, I've started

Mate, this was a joke. I hope that came across. I've been a paying member of heroku for nearly a decade, and pay them $1000s of my personal income monthly. I think their product has been brilliant. I just defended them yesterday in a H

I just bought villainku.com. Will forward to heroku.com when the DNS is done. You die the heroku, or live long enough to become the villainku.

This is good news for existing paying Heroku users. This is good news for Fly, Render, etc. This is bad news for Heroku in the long term. Free tiers are a gateway to users.

I wish I could give you a concrete answer but it's been about 7 or 8 months since I last looked at alternatives. IIRC, it was something to do with Postgres restore support not being as good.

Short answer: no. Every year I try out new things (fly, render), but stick with heroku because I'd rather focus on building products and not devops. I'm a solo dev making $700k a year on my projects. I'm happy to pay the extr

Yes, this. I had to difficult time replying to pembrook because their reply was so venomous that I felt out of breath by just how far off the mark pembrook was to how it was for me in 2017. Crypto in 2017 really felt like the beginning of s
