How is that obvious? I have two kids that respond quite well to rational incentives. On the other hand some adults I know respond to irrational incentives all the time.

You can discipline without resorting to violence. People do it everyday in school, workplace, and all manners of life. I'm not sure why violent discipline is ok when it comes to children.

Years ago I was able to get a 85/15/5. 85% first mortgage, 15% second mortgage and 5% down. The 2nd mortgage worked out to about the same as the cost of PMI but with the advantage I could deduct the interest on my taxes so overall

That's a different issue. The parent comment was, "It was blatantly obvious the dem on the street wanted Bernie". Clinton won millions more votes from the "dems on the street" than Bernie.

It was not blatantly obvious. I voted for Bernie in the primaries, but let's be clear. Clinton won the primaries by millions of votes. If more states had primaries instead of caucuses Clinton would have won even more states.

I've used both React and ExtJS. Overall React is much easier. ExtJS becomes a mess of event handlers, just take a look at all the possible events when working with their trees. In theory it looks great, in practice it's hard to fo

Why is spending money on a new car better than $1000 on new tires? That's about three months worth of payments vs years of payments on a car.

That is highly dependent on where you live. I live in Austin and pay a constant rate of about $0.12/kWh no matter the time of day.

It all depends on how many miles you put on your car. In Austin, I'm paying about $30/1000 miles for my Leaf or about $30/month for the amount of miles I drive.

Depending on your income, at least in the US, it's closer to 21.5k with the federal 7500 tax rebate. In addition, a few states offer rebates on top of that.

The shuttle was for the most part a terrible program. It cost an enormous amount of money compared to its benefits. It would have been cheaper to continue sending rockets than trying to maintain and fly the shuttle fleet.

Because it makes a good story in their circle of people who don't know the meaning of socialism. If the CEO of a company is not making 200-300 times their average employee, they think it's socialism.

What does lack of generics have to do with concurrent vs non-concurrent data structures? It seems like if the problem calls for it, concurrent data structures would be used regardless of generics.

Point 2: You are not paying double taxes on the income. You are paying taxes on the profit you made selling the investment. If I invest $100 and make $10, I pay taxes on the $10, not the original $100 investment.
