I'm talking about the base salary not the total comp. If you don't make $200k in total comp per year in the Valley with 10 years of experience, you have a serious problem.

This posts has nothing to do with total comp or whatsoever. I'm talking about too many people claiming $200k/year as their base salary which seems very suspicious. Or they simply don't understand the break down of their total

Yes and No. From my experience they do include W2s in your mortgage application in order to see your total assets in case you go bankrupt. They get as much info as they can, which is why they need your w2s ;) The rule for mortgage applicati

I've been a googler myself, a few make 200k base salary but it's still a small minority of the company. In your list, only Netflix will guarantee $200k minimum as an annual base salary for pretty much all their engineers. Why? Bec

Even if you were to switch jobs every year you'd ultimately move horizontally at some point. They would bump up your stocks and give you a huge sign-on bonus. The base salary is hard to negotiate because it's fairly regulated.

The base salary is your true buying power. Financial institutes look at your gross base salary in order to calculate the income/debt ration. Stocks and bonuses are not included unless they ask for you W2 instead of your paychecks. Also

Of course, google has the highest salaries. If you're a staff at Google I'd expect $200k base. Same if you work in finance. Though, in most of the case you won't make $200k/y base salary with 10 years of exp in "jav

First off, are you talking base salary or full package? There is no such thing as $200k base salary for 10 years exp in java. You'd have to specialize. $170k/y base salary for an eng manager is right where you want to be. If your

I think we should start by defining the term "harassment". Most of the people don't know the exact definition. Is it a big smile? Is it talking too much to someone? Is it asking a question not related to work? Or is it about

Put it this way - If you ask academic questions to a senior engineer during an interview, you might as well hire a college student. It will cost you less money and the student might even be a better fit, based on your evaluation.
