Absolutely agree. Some people still don't realize the difference between a cryptocoin that has no intrinsic value, and a real currency which will always be used for at least two things : - pay the salaries of state workers - pay your t

Anyone knows if this is some kind of proof-of-concept language ? Or is there any plan on getting this thing supported in the long run ? I've always loved dave abrahams contributions on swift forums, and with the recent departure of chr

i wouldn't be surprised if eth survives but btc don't. Ethereum has actually built something on top of its coin, thanks to smart contract. To my knowledge, BTC is pure speculation.

As a backend-now-fullstack dev, i can tell you mobile dev is actually harder than backend now. At its beginning, mobile apps were just a few simple screens mostly querying a server. It is now closer to the gigantic desktop apps of the 90s (

it would be interesting to understand what is different now. Because IMHO it's never 100% full circle. It looks like we're back at the same point, but there are usually crucial differences in the implementation details that make

i've read about y-combinator a few times, but i must say your fours paragraphs are the most enlightening i've ever read. You should add them to the wikipedia introduction's in the ycombinator page.

From an historian POV, those closed-data communication platforms are going to end up as a black hole. So much of our life has happened through them, and yet will be invisible to historian. It's really a problem.

i've been developping for 20 years, and 10 years on iOS as a freelance. I've seen all the horrors, and i can now safely claim that all the problems i've seen on iOS development come from not designing the model layer properly

No i'm not sure, that's just what i understood from reading the article, which only mentions race conditions and something looking like a deadlock. You think it could be a deadlock in the memory allocator ?

I would have agreed with you if the problem they faced was a memory allocation issue. However, in the case of deadlocks and race conditions, i don’t think low-level languages make the problem any easier to understand, quite the contrary i’d
