That's a fascinating story. I'm curious what would it actually feel like to rotate 1 rotation per second in space? I guess the bigger factor may be location within the spacecraft (e.g. I imagine if near the center it would be much less stre

Many schools use google for email, calendars, and chat. It's google for business, but I believe it's free (or relatively cheap) for education institutions. Theoretically all those users would be using Google and perhaps Google+ with enough

My highschool courses were all graded on essays except the hard sciences. College is not the only place to learn to write. I also remember my 5th grade teacher telling me we all deserved As (for average instead of E for excellent) but that

I had a pretty intense full-time job (managing an academic library's digital services) and going to school part-time to earn my BS in CS. It was incredibly difficult to manage my time. Every semester I would work 9-5, take classes from 6-10

Does the Mashable piece include any pictures of the work environment? I don't see anything but common space for eating and hanging out.

With so much variance I'm surprised you found the need to belittle this guy's singular experience. He told his story of India. It highlights both good and bad, but also in himself. This wasn't some rant against India. Get over yourself.

I disagree. A PM is an excellent communicator between engineers and the rest of the organization. It's not a matter of dysfunction, but a way of filtering what is important and what isn't. I've been in both situations where a) I am in direc

Thoughtbot wrote a lib that they bundled up as a gem that does this for you called Backbone Support. It's an easy way to get started, but you'll likely want to tweak it later :) https://github.com/thoughtbot/backbone-support

Years of experience is an easy way for a company to justify not hiring you. If you have the skills, you likely need to improve your skill at effectively educating people of your ability. I recently went through something like this. I wound

Including room and board in the equation is generally misleading when discussing the cost of education (even if a required cost for first-year freshmen). It's a requirement for living regardless of whether you're in college. Discounting roo

Georgia State is a few thousand per year for state students. Who cares if it doubled? Edit: Southern state schools should be the model. They're 1/4 or cheaper the cost of private schools and often a better education.

It has been my experience too that other waitresses do not serve you. I'm in Boston and often when I get another waitresses' attention, instead of helping me they quickly rush off and signal that they will get my waitresses attention. Also,

They would also need to hire someone to manage those devices which would cost maybe 2x the router year after year. It'd suck too (not going to get a competent person in that position).

I think your numbers might be conservative. 60k is a low intro-level salary for most metro areas and many recruiters wouldn't bother. Finding intro-level programmers is relatively easy so the burden of proof and stakes are high for the recr

TPB is my first stop. I've always used private music trackers, but never found much need for it with video (quality is less important and I don't want to deal with seed requirements).

Billing is not automated. I'm months overdue and I just got a personal email asking if I still wanted my account. It doesn't matter. Prgmr is hands down the best hobby VPS provider (I can't comment for other scenarios).

This is a silly example because it's so simple. E.g. You can just write 2*3+1, which is easier to read. Regardless, I'd wonder why you put the parenthesis there, as if it were some odd hack or workaround for some obscure bug.
