Depending on how geeky you want to go, whether it's all for work or you want some pleasure out of it, I would say get a bunch of x10 devices. You can get lights, security systems, coffee pots, etc that all work off of the wireless x10 proto

I've been wanting to get more control over my brewing. For now I just use my Keurig. I love it, and I know I'll probably get shit from coffee snobs (no offense), but it's good enough to have a quick cup in the morning.

Are you interested in becoming a passive mentor for someone who has a decent grasp on core obj-c/cocoa concepts? I'm looking for someone I can bounce ideas and questions off of. I think InstaDesk is fantastic!

I seems to me as it's "making a comeback". Although it never left, for years I didn't hear much about it. Maybe the new generation of programmers are seeing the old guys use it and are just blogging more about it. I personally use Vim and l

Have you tried any other forms of traffic building than asking for someone to spread your name? If you're as good as you say you are (I've never read your writing) then I would try getting a guest spot to blog on large parenting and family

Upgrade to a 13" MBP. I love my 13". I let my wife use it since I have a 15" quad core i7 and the 13" is only a core2duo. It should be plenty compatible with Ubuntu. Put a solid state in there and 16gb of ram and you'll be a happy developer

You said "I don't mind getting fired, I'm going to get a better job anyways.", so why take on a defensive attitude like this?

I don't think anything can pull me away from Vim. Some of it looks nice, but I don't think it would be much use to me. I'll have to wait until I actually get my hands on it though.

In your position I would do a few things. 1. Become an authority figure in the market. Start writing blog posts about independent music, comment on music blogs, ask for permission to write some guest posts on some (small, medium, or large)

It's not a bad thing to say "I don't know" to some things. In this case though (and please don't take any offense) any intermediate PHP developer should know how to work with multi-dimensional arrays. That should be part of any PHP develope

Tell me what makes your idea unique? I didn't get much into it to be completely honest. The reason I didn't go into too much is because it just seems like any other ticketing system, the same thing I'd get with Bugzilla or Jira.

I charge 20% up front. Doesn't matter if it's a $40,000 contract or a $4,000 contract. Freelancers are easy to screw over because most of us can't afford to take people to court. It would usually cost me way more money in legal fees than th

Martin Fowler's Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture was a great read. It goes into a ton of patterns and theory. It's worth a read, even though it's branded for the enterprise.

Personally I would never pay for a browser plugin. I don't really need those services to do anything more than they already do. Granted I'm sure there are tons of people that want more, but I personally am not one of them.
