Seems like a flawed system. I would just use a fake profile or say I only used CTCI as prep.

This experience varies too much for the individual. I've been given almost no leeway with all of my interviews. Most of my peers are in a similar bucket but I will admit - I seem to get some of the worst experience out of my peer gro

The issue isn't telling people about basic things like you learn in a CS major - it's about taking random problems and solving them on a whiteboard without any errors (syntactically or otherwise) while explaining the solution, alt

I've worked at decacorns that used code freezes... Usually they were last minute "oh fuck we took down the whole website 3 days in a row now and this has cost millions of dollars" kinda reactions. The reason they had to do co

Are we talking about the same thing? Most are talking about Leetcode - which is a separate skill from the job and requires months of dedicated practice. I haven't seen any engineer managers pass the usual litany of tests that ICs get.

Funny - I assume the opposite because they're spending their time at a charger rather than plugging it in at home. If they can't charge at home - that probably means they don't have a home but maybe an apartment without a gar

I wouldn't be surprised if this is because of the trip cap thing that Menlo Park has - which seems purely aimed at Facebook to collect tax revenue. https://almanacnews.com/news/2019/05/01/facing-trip

I doubt he had any regrets as long as his boss was happy with his decision. Very few people give a shit if something is cost effective, ethical, or even intelligent to do if their boss is happy with the decision or they’re able to placate t

This definitely has some nostalgia from the good ol’ days going on or something… It was not uncommon to see the same ad in a single hour of content. I’d see the exact same ads for years when watching tv. Did you forget when shows would st

Agree... The diversity runs about skin deep and that's it. Most people in their 20s and 30s are still children of rich/UMC parents. Very few people I have met in SV are from lower class families. Socioeconomically - it's a wi

As one of those people - being hard working vs not has little to no influence on this outcome tbh. Whether we IPO’d and got 7-fig TC was more due to market forces, our exec team, and some other noise. Whether the engineers got something del

Having had to rebuild carbs only like 20 times and fiddle with fuel mixture a hundred more… I’ll take a hard pass on this. This is heavily romanticized. It’s a complete PITA and if you are unlucky enough to not have adjustable enough carbs

Face is a pretty big deal. If you have model looks - many women can overlook other attributes. But again - should we use something that is innately genetic and unchangeable as a means for “compensating”? You’re not even ripped. You just say

The ones I’ve seen in Paris don’t use a wheel but instead use a hefty metal roller. It’s a bit unintuitive at first because it looks so weird.

You’re likely well into the top 10% of attractiveness for men then if you got many matches and dates out of Tinder. You’re not representative of men at large. The overwhelming majority of men will never get a single date from online dating.
