They say the hardware will use an i.MX6 or i.MX8 SoC, which I assume implies they are using the Freescale/NXP SoCs. i.MX6 isn't really intended for use in phones (afaik) and I don't know of any recent phones which use i.MX6

I'm surprised you think that the funding target seems high. I personally believe their funding target is in the range of 10-20x too small to actually make a smart phone, especially when they plan to make all their own software and not

Yes, but you have to compromise sometimes and you need to be willing to live somewhere with a lower cost of living (ie: probably not in a big city). Get your family out of debt as much as possible first then reduce your monthly costs as

Transmit only for the high power active radio is often a great way to save power, so long as you have an alternative data path to send information to the device to change settings or do firmware updates. For example, see the Omni-ID Power

A USB smart card like a Yubikey NEO or 4 might be useful. Keys are securly stored in the card and never leave it. Alternatively, a USB smart card reader and a normal smart card, but this is physically larger.

The embedded Linux system I'm working on right now takes about 17 us per stat() call due to this but time will always be kept internally as UTC, so taking advantage of this is worth considering for me. Since most embedded systems can d

The article says that 4 operating nuclear plants supply 1/3 of the electricity for NY state. That's impressive! Sadly, 4 of the NY nuclear plants were commissioned in the 1970s. A 5th plant, in Shoreham, is the newest but is als

Ask Spectrum if they offer the "Everyday low price" tier. It's $15/month where I live for 2/1 Mbps down/up but they don't advertise it. This isn't a promotional rate.

There's an anti-collision system which is used to inventory all tags in the field of view of a reader. On the order of 500+ tags per second can be picked up by a single reader. For more details, see the GS1 spec, page 49 or so http:&#

Impinj say the tag can perform reads with RF power levels down to -19.9 dBm and writes down to -14.1 dBm. -19.9 dBm is about 10 uW (micro watts). -14.1 dBm is about 38 uW.
