The one I can think of is tuning circuit breakers so that failures are additive but successes decrease more multiplicatively/exponentially, which helps with fast recovery. That’s more dividing than multiplying though

It makes sense that retrofitting is expensive - that's labor and plane downtime for 5-7k commercial jets. This airplane was brand new. It should be using something more modern.

I've been really enjoying voice controls for my lights. It's not always more convenient than my lights, but overall I like the experience. With Apple TV + a home pod I also get a fair bit of TV control with my voice which is nice.

For the top 1%, I suspect one of the biggest differentiators is "write a lot of code". On and off the clock. Working hard / practicing a discipline goes a very long way
