No you were not, what I was referring to had nothing to do with locking down version numbers. I said "fragile". That doesn't mean something wasn't objectively "my fault". Yes the bytes don't change themsel

Wow. Maybe about a year ago I wrote a comment on reddit it read almost exactly like that abandoned aliens sentence. I think I said something like "waiting for the mother ship to take me to my people.".

This is a pretty naive approach in most cases. There are tons of companies (I'd argue most) where firstly there's no "next big salary" to be received (it's a slooow upwards trajectory) and secondly promotions are no

If what you're doing is not too complex I recommend you consider using the AWS command line client. You can script it for example in Python with the subprocess module.

I have to agree with that. The javascript ecosystem in general is extremely fragile. I have lost weeks and weeks worth of time investigating how X and Y silently broke again. And I say that as a hardcore webdev who is very well familiar wit

Same. I think it would be a nice statement to make if angular.io itself was an Angular app that was a joy to use.

Sadly what I have found is almost anything worth knowing is not possible to know early on. Curtains fall after 6 months and that's when you know some real info. Especially true if the company/team is not a large or well known one

I bet someone will also complain that he "mansplained" one of his talks. Give me a break. Go solve a real problem. First-world morons who are so fed up with the comfort of their lives they have to actively go chase drama.

I don't know enough about the specific case to prescribe something confidently however if your gut and other sensors tell you you should be leaving do it. Better to leave after 1 month (and ignore it in your resume) than to stay for 9

It is fairly standard practice to mark for deletion and communicate on the UI to the user that their data will be deleted in X days. Also doesn't hurt to spell that out in terms of service and privacy policy.

Look for another job and put the history behind you. You can offer a lot of value to a new employer, don't walk in through the door from a position of weakness. Walk in through the door like the valuable experienced employee that you c

I've tried doing a little bit of that before but didn't seem work very well. I could hardly spot a good "pattern" in the jobs posted. Most of them seemed ad-hoc and custom enough that after looking at a 100 you will stil

I strongly disagree with most of what you have described. A lack of interest in certain topics or unwillingness to engage in particular activities does not automatically imply that I think those are below me or that I'm superior. I

I'm also interested in this topic. Is there any room left in the Wordpress plugin space? It seems like pretty much any use case is fulfilled with a big-name plugin so I imagine you'd have to go extremely niche which would have a t

I don't know about the companies you mentioned but if I were you I'd choose Sears because of the 50% higher pay. 50% is a lot. Once you "unlock" the Sears salary you will most likely never go down from there. So in a cou

Find a good reliable long-term physical storage option (I don't know one to suggest maybe someone else can). If it's a small amount of data you could use a QR code printed on paper then put the paper in a safety box?
