You don’t need to be a doctor or therapist to let people know that some people can have very bad reactions and it’s not all roses. I see the same thing happening in people smoke marijuana where any claim that it can have harmful effects for

I would have a hard time believing that. I work with a company that hired a lot of germans and they have the worst developer experience onboarding and general infra of any place i have worked. When you outline why it’s bad and show how you

Shitty companies doing shitty things. I think this is the expectation in 2024.

Nice! That was my experience as well. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t falling too far out of date while I switched to some MLops roles for a while.

I think it’s pretty clear that it’s easy to sell rage against companies right now. News just tells people what they want to hear in this age

As far as i know most places are still using iPXE and Tftp to load an image with some custom provisioning framework. It worked really well but I haven’t worked on large scale DCs for a few years now so maybe some new stuff happened

I follow a tour guide in Colombia who takes people up the glaciers there. It’s really sad to see them all melting away year after year.

Maybe don’t stand next to others when firing it… so yes they were dumb. But more so the general mentality of “a bad thing could happen so lets never do it” is sad to me.

That sounds great. I imagine it would turn out the same way using local transit has. Some are awesome like the netherlands and some are hostile towards users that you can’t even properly use it if you arrive too late at night because no one

At what point do we just completely lose faith in a company? First they screwed over the public and now our astronauts.

A few years ago I was really into spicy food. I would cut up entire ghost peppers or habaneros and put them in almost every meal. I was at the point where physically it made we sweat but i could actually enjoy the flavor. Eating the 2x spic

This is getting more common. I have already had people try to tell me how something works from a chat gpt summary. This would have led to us taking a completely different direction… 5 minutes of reading the actual docs and I found out they

So are train tickets going down in price or more seats being added?

Like most things it will push poorer people out, middle income will be annoyed and slightly more poor, and people with money won’t even notice

Better/cheaper train solutions would seem to be the desired fix though not just raising prices to random high numbers. I agree that this will likely have a good outcome in the end but something about it just seems wrong to me.

Have to extract the most value for shareholders. Only way i see it changing is people start stealing software because they get sick of it or people stop using subscription based licenses all together.

I was working at 14 in Florida. What do you consider to be child labor? I have lots of views they likely don’t line up with yours because most people don’t see how the low end of the economy actually works.

I saw what it took to build both Uber and Lyft. I know that the government will bot be able to reproduce it in any way unless you are fine with a terrible user experience and times where no rides are available

Its pretty hard to apply min wage intended for w2 to gig work when the laws are treating you as both. So they have to let the drivers have complete freedom over what they do and what rides they take and when they do it. But also you have to

They offer a service and you can choose to drive for them. This in a lot of cases helps people make extra money or hold them over. But you think it’s better to let the government remove this option? I just can’t get onboard with this thinki
