Would something similar* be possible using Nginx's scripting engine? When a back-end comes online, it connects to an endpoint to notify Nginx that it has come online, and this gets added to the proxy configuration. I wish I had the time to

Would 'access' be a business-class service? It seems rare to see a response to commenters on eg. the NY Times blogs (I'm not an avid reader, so it may be far more common than I think). So commenting and interacting with the journalists &

Good to know. I only have problems when switching between internal and external on an MBP.

f.lux is great when it works, but if you plug into an external monitor at all, it seems to stop working automatically. I'd go three days and suddenly realise that I'm staring at a very blue screen at 11pm. This is on a Mac, it might be fine

Interesting! I don't use this stuff in anger, so my questions are merely idle curiosity. Omnistar refers to the HP accuracy as "real-time"[1] and: > [it] will usually have a 2-sigma (95%) horizontal error of about 6 centimeters and a 99

Are your robots moving around? I'm just curious because the positioning research I've been exposed to couldn't get better than ~50cm accuracy for objects in motion (for example, a person walking around at a normal pace).

I believe, but I'd have to go check bcrypt to make sure, that the salt is stored as part of the digest. Edit: Actually, after minimal research, I see that salting the password is handled by the bcrypt ruby gem.

Last time I checked, about a year or so ago, they weren't very keen on people using them only as a registrar. Not "you'll get your account terminated", just a "please don't do this if you don't have to". That said, I've got a domain (or two

> The thing that annoyed me about Chef was the need for a Chef server You may not have heard of Chef-solo? I've been managing 8 EC2 servers for a project with it and Capistrano, relatively painlessly.

You may or may not know, but non-Australians living in Australia are covered by Medicare (depending on your visa type), so that could explain the similar pricing.

Once you get past a certain number of tabs[1], neither horizontal or vertical works very well. I'd like to see a browser that worked along the same lines as Emacs' buffers, where you have no tabs, but an ability to show a list of open pages

It was quite a good case-study in bike-shedding. For those new to the term, it's effectively "The intensity of discussion is inversely proportional to the complexity of the problem". http://ftp.sunet.se/jargon/html/B/bikeshedding.html ht

Sorry to reply to myself, but I actually forgot to put my main point in, which was that British English generally refers to the group itself as the entity, whereas it seems that American English refers to the group elements individually.

Isn't the difference generally that a library is used by client code, whereas client code sits 'inside' (for varying levels of inside) a framework? That's my rule-of-thumb anyway.
