As someone who has looked into using Gtk+, Qt, Wxwidgets, Dear Imgui, Nuklear, Druid and Lazarus, I see the appeal of Electron. At some point a native gui toolkit feels just as, if not more, limited than a web UI in Electron only with scarc

The guy from the mach engine has also talked about issues dealing with Bézier curves and came up with a interesting set a primitives: Triangles, quadratic curves and semi-circles. Mostly this is make it easier to do vector graphics on a gpu

I suppose that really true for Windows users that only know of msvc. My first time using it was via Linux and gcc and didn't really have any troubles. It's even better today with vscode and clangd.

I wonder if it's worth it to use zigs build system in projects. I've seen tried and failed to build a number of zigs projects when I'd last looked into it.

Flatpaks break a number of apps that I use. So no, it's not the future. Come up with something that works before making it the solution to distribution packaging.

This is why I want a browser where I can use Reader Mode on everything. Not just articles and blogs but also forums, q&a sites, online stores, image galleries, video sites. Because of this I don't bet on the web because it's r

Does Ada support Android and iOS targets yet? Last I checked there didn't seem to be any obvious way to build for NDK.

I'm not a big Rust guy and have no plans on really diving deep into it for any of my projects. But I'm very impressed with what people have accomplished with it and I love the tooling around it. So I still think I might be using i

I wonder if, using something like RISC-V, it would be possible to create a modern system where all the components are controlled by the operating system instead of firmware. If so could assembly be the best systems language?

I wouldn't say Chromium's WebGPU is stable just yet. It still doesn't run on my Linux system anyway. Mind you that both the Dawn and WGPU c libraries work on this system.

That makes sense. However, it's not that different from using the same password on all sites as an attacker only needs the master key for your online password manager.

I don't think there is any good reason to store passwords on a remote machine that you don't own. When most passwords that anyone will ever have can be fit on one cheap thumb drive in a keepass database. For which there are many o

That's nonsense. That *might* be a good reason to block users from using the dislike button but that's no reason to make it invisible. The reason to make it invisible is so more users waist their time on clickbait garbage.

It's also not working on Chrome Beta on Linux with Intel Graphics. Which I find funny because I've been playing with WebGPU native with both Dawn and WGPU and they both seem to work fine outside of the browser.

The better question is do we even need so many apps to begin with? Do we need YouTube, Dailymotion, TikTok, Vimeo all to be their own app? Or should they all just use the something like NNTP but for video sites?

You could convert the paths in a font file into a series of triangles using some vertices as a control points for quadratic bezier curves. Then some code for laying out the glyphs in a line. Much of this could be done on a shader I think.
