Not true. A quick hand wash gets rid of almost all the bacteria. Fungi take a bit more scrubbing to get rid of. I found this out in first year university biology. We swabbed and cultured our hands before and after washing with plain soap. A

An interesting thing to me is that E. coli will be killed if the meat is cooked all the way through. Anyone that gets infected by this strain (or any other) hasn't been cooking their meat properly. Or the hamburger chain hasn't. Rare steak

It is true that pathogenic organisms will be killed by bringing water to boil. However, this is not gauranteed to destroy toxins produced by organisms. For example, Clostridium botulinum needs to be boiled for ten minutes to destroy the tox

I think the article meant that a deadly strain of E. coli first appeared in the early 1980s. E. coli in general does not cause death, It is present in the gut of most mammals, including humans.

There is an open source competitor - Moodle (moodle.org) My university currently uses Blackboard. Some of the computing subjects are trialling moodle to see whether the whole university could switch from Blackboard. Moodle is simpler to us
