> HTML is the native language for describing UI in the browser In the same way that assembler is the native language for giving instructions to the CPU. In practice, it is of zero importance, because there are powerful abstractions buil

Bad idea because it's LinkedIn, which has a shady reputation? Or that her profile doesn't look good? Or something else?

About the same as it is. My time working in web agencies has taught me that the vast majority of website owners don’t want to look the same as everyone else, and they want whizzbang high-tech widgets that make them look advanced. Usability

Totally agree with this diagram, it's a great representation. Now if I could only get stakeholders and less experienced people on the team to understand why it's important, and get them to follow it.

Liked by parents before their kids get into the school, often detested after publishing a report that doesn’t match their own experience. I’ve personally seen them make weird recommendations that damaged the school.

I saw a successful attack on a .dev domain doing exactly this. Links on PCs worked correctly, but phones showed a scam site, so emailed links were attacked. It was hard to fix because they couldn’t get the spoofed domain, and there were so

There are effectively 2-3 dead weeks in which you’re not paid but can’t look for a new job. All you can do over Christmas and New Year is worry.

I'm sceptical that Drew DeVault has a sock puppet account on HN, created 3 months ago, in addition to @ddevault. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't like non-satirical impersonation.

1. If you _really_ like an album, buy it on Bandcamp, because it gives more money to the artist. 2. If you just listen to the occasional song, listen to them on Spotify. Artist gets _some_ money, but nowhere near as much as #1. 3. If you do

There are many other “general intelligences” walking the planet who _are_ extremely dangerous. So it doesn’t need all AGIs to be dangerous for this to be a significant problem, just one is enough.

Yeah, it's usually a cliched pseudo-sceintific way of saying "I don't think it's necessary", and that seems to be the case here too.
