Videos just make people who speak English as a second language feel uncertain. And an unattractive or sloppy-looking person may lose a job... even if they're uber-qualified. I'd say skip the video-thing altogether (unless you want to make i

I agree! A major opportunity seems to exist in developing a remote work/telecommuting-specific job board. A good one. Like TheLadders for remote/contract/freelance only.

Sorry, fijall, that the number of enslaved people (who are in many cases not guilty of crimes beyond disagreeing with a dictator) is not adequately horrific for you. Perhaps if they were 200,000 people you knew... or even one you knew.

Thank you for posting this. A key takeaway from the article is in the final paragraph: "if we allow it, we could live in a world that makes great strides forward, but that can never rid itself of the abhorrent authoritarian tool that is the

The reference to reaching out directly to writers was actually based less on P99T and more on a different startup we used to own, a realtor rating site. In that case, we found a writer for a major newspaper that we wanted to write a story o

We went through exactly this at Page99Test.com, a 'micro-critique' writing community. (Well, in fact, I doubt any startup under 3 years doesn't go through the same thing, even those with funding.) Here's what we learned, briefly: DON'T UNDE

That's an interesting insight. In my experience, very few meetings produce anything. If a company wants to keep its developers happy but needs to have a few of them in meetings (e.g., to answer questions, comment on process), what to do???

After reading through all the awesome comments on this thread on Quora, I created a Prezi to summarize it all. I posted it as an answer summary. But some guy named Richard Henry --- Quora Admin --- deleted it. Said it wasn't a summary and w

You can't sext if you don't have access to a cell phone. Remind me why we think kids need cell phones, computers in their rooms, access to their parents' cash, relaxed curfews, no chores, better clothes than we ever had... And why, even wit

That's too bad about MailChimp. We experienced something similar when using MailChimp for Page99Test.com: our pre-launch signup list was not quite as clean as MailChimp (or we) would've liked. It was dirty. Like, pornographic dirty. ;) No

I've read exactly the same thing about Netflix hundreds of times on Glassdoor ------ almost every review says the same thing: fear for your job. My partner was offered a job there and decided against it after reading some of those reviews.
