In what universe? Star Wars or Star Trek? Also, who would be piloting each ship? Solo and Kirk? :)

I've written and maintain various Go systems and agree. Go is like Rails was about 5 years ago. It ends up hurting the community members themselves in the end. I won't abandon the language because it works well for my use case, bu

Don't believe the hype. A good resume, some confidence, and practice is all you need. Remember: You are not looking for everybody to hire you. Just one place. It doesn't matter if you 9 turn you down if #10 hires you. :) Best of l

I share that experience. I use Go whenever the service is simple, requires better performance than Python, and cannot use too much instance resources.

It's not pointless. Demos like these help others discover libraries and frameworks. I did not know of pixiejs and it's something I need for work. Having the cat and pickles render in my cheap android device was proof enough to try

What a wonderful Saturday read. Thank you for posting. The article does make a very interesting point I had never considered: Mathematics as machines. Which absolutely makes sense when you see it from the point of view of input-processing-o

Reasons why I've chosen Go for APIs: - The language is simple. No need to lookup strange keywords or try and figure out too much cleverness in the language itself. It promotes readable code. - A basic and good type system. I don't

I'd go with Java itself. It's the most mature and stable. Uber is not a startup. It needs an enterprise solution.

At that scale my choice would be Java. Proven, reliable, plenty of devs, vendor support, good type system, and plenty of open source code to leverage. Plus it's it's a mature ecosystem.

It is odd to require an Internet connection. The Epilog models at my disposal do not.

This is probably a stupid question, but here it goes: Embedded platforms tend to have size limits. Would this increase the size of the source code? Seems a bit verbose to me.

I explored this not too long ago. The basic gist was to offer a managed service that did everything for small businesses (run, host, update, upgrade open source software) for a low monthly price. The technical side was simple. Using docker

Lead here: My own experience with various companies has been that they expect 100% with the additional management work on top (like a cherry). You end up delegating a lot of things and get tired quickly. I'm currently working on re adj

I wonder why they didn't go with Java. It would have been a good fit with the additional benefit of not having to pay the premium Go devs go for (Go dev here).

Probably some last minute feature that was forced with a same day deadline. If I had a dollar for each of those I'd be able to retire.
