How did you start a poll? I haven't seen a poll in a long, long time on HN. I know this is extremely generic but can we have an OS/browser/editor poll like we used to twice a year or so?

These are not the same. Yes, not having Google-like companies, even with their recent turn for the worse, is a problem. Not having a Facebook reflects rather positively on us.

A good start would be a law that ensures a woman’s claim on marital property in the case of a divorce. Current Chinese law makes no such provision, and thus provides a strong disincentive to marry and a very powerful incentive to charge hi

Fortunately, you still can buy dumb screens and add smart features with addons like Chromecast or just a computer with HDMI output. This works reasonably well, much like the bluetooth adapter.

I don't like the idea of home automation and these complex, all-in-one systems in general. They are just bound to fail. And not even in some spectacular fashion, they will just be a grind to use with this or that piece not working corr

If schools don't do much beyond warehousing kids, which seems to be the case, then one room schoolhouses are just as good, if less comfortable, as multiroom schoolhouses.
