While I would argue that the best alternative to Facebook is nothing, it is interesting that there is no "Internet community creation kit" which would just be a blog+forum software integrated so that one section of the forum is dedicated to comments on the blog posts while other sections allow users, not just site editors, to create threads.
- thaumasiotes 8y agoIs that not just a forum? phpBB has been around for a while.
- blfr 8y agoForums lack the integration to the blog (main site) comments. Even modern forums like nodeBB only offer hacky solutions for that.
- KajMagnus 8y agoI think Talkyard does what you have in mind: https://www.talkyard.io https://www.talkyard.io — it's both community/forum software, and blog comments: https://www.talkyard.io/blog-comments https://www.talkyard.io/blog-comments, and the blog comments are placed in a blog-post-discussions category in the forum. The same login & @username_mentions work both in the blog comments and in the forum. (I'm developing Talkyard & it's open source beta software.) I'm looking to create a PWA mobile app, meaning, people will get one's community as its own icon on their mobile phone. (Any thoughts/feedback?)
