See, my first thought on reading the question is that this guy was fishing for answers to the sorts of questions he's not legally allowed to ask—relationship status, family plans, and so on. This is reinforced (at least to me, unless I'm m

Can someone explain what the nominal "velocity" counter means? I thought it made sense going up (although I wasn't sure why its rate of change---which would be the acceleration---seemed to increase a bit), but then I was totally baffled af

A big problem with this prediction of the imminent decline and fall of paper is that it seems to neglect the fact that paper is soooooooo cheap. Also comes with many affordances, sure, but it is so cheap . That makes it easy to use for o

In particular, if you just type "qwertyuiop" or "asdfghjkl" or the like, the password looks at least as good (better, really) than when you type the correct password, right up to the last character. So, not very useful?

Whether this is an apt counter to the article's thesis depends on whether you perceive that thesis to be "This guy invented it and therefore should get acclaim/money/patents", or "This guy invented it and therefore Apple didn't and theref

I'd like to see the numbers for licenses in general (and particularly accounting for how often various sites' licenses change ). I've written before[0] about how Apple's iTMS policy is long and frequently updated and that they clearly hav

That article both spoke to me and seemed foreign; I've lived alone for all but two years of the last 20 (since high school), and I do "spread out" in many of the ways it describes. But, when I do get to temporarily "live with" someone---wh

The real issue with which one "seems right" in some sort of intuitive sense is that it varies with what I'm doing. If I'm sizing something that is fundamentally a container , then I care about the size of the whole box, including padding

And one of the most interesting parts isn't even mentioned in the Forbes article: on page 8, Duhigg has a great description of how he hacked his own brain to reprogram an unwanted routine. (Well, he probably wouldn't describe it that way.)

But neither button says "trash it", and "eject" in the context of disk images just means "unmount". So now I'm even less clear about what those buttons do.

Also, check out the available buttons on the dialog---"Cancel" and "Eject disk image". I'm guessing that "Cancel" is the one you need to click to say "Cancel the warning and mount it anyway", which in other contexts is known as "OK". Argh

Oh---I did miss your point then, but I think the text/photo distinction would actually be somewhat easier for them to defend than a content/porn distinction; as I understand it, porn is content, as a matter of very well-settled caselaw.
