The grid version, praised as the best version, on https://eev.ee/media/2020-02-css/thumbnail-grids.html#grid renders incorrectly in chrome 79, the current stable release. (It looks fine on Canary and in Safari.) T

The Edge team is trying really hard to create a "we do things right" story around their project. They must be annoyed that a different department squanders the goodwill they're working so hard to create with stuff like this.

What a great article. I'm a happy ripgrep user. I'm impressed by its speed, its ease of use, and the positive vibe on the issue tracker. Naturally, I never reached out to burntsushi -- I don't have anything to complain about!

If you're a developer of an open-source project and people start using that, it's on the users to verify that the project is security-conscious. I open-source lots of my fun hacks for free in the hope that they're useful for

I don't disagree with your overall point, but this specific episode likely was just the usual big-company problem: https://twitter.com/felixsalmon/status/1215092889090392064

Both the card and the article look cool, thanks for making this. Do you have a mailing list for article updates?

By selling ads solely against the query, and figuring out a way to track conversions against generated unique referring URL instead of using cookies. Maybe it's less profitable, but it might still be profitable, and it gives you a foot

That Cliqz is trying to actually build a new search stack is commendable. This is way more exciting to me than DuckDuckGo and other services that just package up Bing search results under different branding. I'm skeptical that they

I like AMP. It's possible to write fast websites without it, and I do do that for my sites. For for big, non-tech sites AMP has provided sufficient motivation to offer a fast version. Nothing else has managed to do this before. I'

As far as I know they don't do any crawling on their own. It's also not meta: it's just bing and some special cases.

Exactly. And heavy post-processing is necessary for even very simple things because a camera's sensors don't match the output picture all that well. See for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayer_filter#D

Night sight for normal night photography, absolutely. Taking pictures in low-light situations is common. Astrophotography on the other hand is much less common.

I think what "has not been retouched or post-processed in any way" is supposed to convey is that no work is needed by the user of the camera app to get pictures of this quality. There's lots of in-camera processing of course.

Here's the usual reminder that DDG results are basically Bing's with minor tweaks. You're not supporting an independent index if you use DDG.
