What does this have to do with FDA or drugs? Re-read the comment I was replying to. It's complaining that a technology could serve one group of people better than another, and I would argue that this should not be our goal. A technolog

Suppose you have a system that saves 90% of lives on group A but only 80% of lives in group B. This is due to the fact that you have considerably more training data on group A. You cannot release this life saving technology because it has a

I was thinking about examples of where things got worse over time. They include some common appliances that use water, due to water use regulations. No reason my dishwasher should take over 2 hours to run. But then there's other things

I agree, I think he overstated the desire to add fluff. It's true that LLMs now add a bunch of fluff by default, but I imagine that will get better. I actually do the reverse of the example the author gave (bullet points - fluff). I gi

The "tech journalist who hates tech" is a recent phenomenon and present on most corporate tech publications. It's weird. You don't see it elsewhere. Imagine a car magazine that just rags on all cars or endlessly complain

I don't know, I feel kind of unsafe around drug users. People feel unsafe around people that don't abide by social norms for good reason. For instance, if someone is playing loud music on a subway, that goes against social norms.

By this logic, not being in a wheelchair doesn't make things easier. It pushes accessibility down. Entire cities are redesigned so that you're dependent on your legs. Yes, society should help those in wheelchairs, but shouldn'

Right, because New York is not car-centric (bike lanes, very dense, few gas stations) "Bit of a walk" is a nice way of saying it but in reality it means you are very limited with things like shopping. You're kind of stuck wit

Right, you can like public transport and that's fine. But most people don't care and prefer to have cars. This is especially true if you have a family. Just two examples: - food shopping is a lot more expensive if you have to buy
