Why? It is largely inconsequential. You save a line or two, but there are bigger fish. Clos, contitions and restarts, and types change how you actually write code. Nil being false doesn't mean anything. You can save a line of code when

The book "Don't sleep there are snakes" by Everett is still a very entertaining read! I highly recommend it.

I have found 2 crashes in osX back in Yosemite. I have reported them with every release since. I have no idea of they work on the arm Macs, but I will have the ability to check in a couple of days. Probably nothing exploitable, but still a

I stopped using facebook and Twitter about 10 years ago. I can't say I noticed any difference back then. The thing I am noticing now is that a larger part of civil society has moved to Facebook. I can't even find the opening hours

While I generally agree with you, I have had multiple occasions where amortized O(1) was unacceptable, whereas the overhead of linked lists was ok.

That dude has steel lips. I am a professional bassoon player, and playing anything for 9 hours straight would make my lips bleed. Edit: I apparently skimmed the article too skimmily.

I really think the scheme SRFI 166 is the nices formatting utility I have worked with: https://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-166/srfi-166.html Probably slow compared to format, but more easily extendable. The slowness could b

I have said this before, but a source->source compiler is a very handy thing to have. A loop construct in chez or guile scheme would probably translate into something tail recursive. You could then macro-expand and optimize the loop to t

I have studied classical music, and a friend of mine applied to a master in conducting. In the entrance exam they had to listen to a 4-part piece and when it was down they had to write it down. Genius level would however be the following: T

Yes. It takes quite some time, though. There are hall effect switches from the 60s that still work. Edit: oh, this uses a magnet instead of a spring. That might cut the neodymium magnet lifetime short. I wonder how much..
