Ah the timing thing is not actually an issue because you simulate or emulate the entire system, including timers and even the PLLs that drive them. There's a globally consistent timeline. Of course this places constraints on the things

You could do this with an emulator I'm sure. At my company we have fairly high-fidelity models of the hardware we use/develop which could probably include on-chip peripherals in the things fuzzed. Also I guess in irradiated enviro

I recently discovered you can use GDB from inside Emacs. [1] Before, I always used some awkward IDE to debug with a live source view, then switched back to my editor to fiddle with code... but with this things are finally unified! (Of cours

Awesome! I work on an embedded project that could benefit _enormously_ from having AFL run against it, but I've never taken the time to do it, because it would take several engineer-weeks to even investigate if it could be done. Their

Synthesisers are really complicated. This example takes about 4 steps from a pure saw wave, it's a demonstration of principles. This is the exact same sort of sound you'd get if you picked up any DAW or hardware studio and tried t

Yeah pretty much nobody uses them because they're half-baked from a UI perspective. This looks like progress (getting rid of the arbitrary restriction to refs/notes), but there may be other things lacking still.

Looks like the "notes" functionality is turning into something quite useful, will be interesting to see if people start to use it in the future.

The reader feature only works on properly structured and modern HTML. Unfortunately I find most of the time when sites look like shit like this one, the author usually hasn't bothered to write good HTML either. Often if you open it in

Great podcast! I didn't actually learn anything new but the producer has that great talent of making it interesting anyway. It reminds me of the better documentaries we sometimes get on BBC Radio 4 in the UK.

Interesting. I don't think it's a numbers station-style system. Generating videos and uploading them via relatively complex protocol (where you have the potential to fuck up and leak info about yourself) to a server you don't

I'm thinking about what we can do about the flood of hideously insecure embedded devices. I wonder if there are industry standard, consumer-visible product security certifications?

I enjoyed this; I moved from Vim to Emacs a couple of years ago and indeed the most important thing to recognise is this: Emacs does have a great text editor, and it's Vim! With evil-mode you can use all the Vim bindings you're

This is a great idea, and well pitched, but it's not the first time I've seen it. Therefore it all comes down to _execution_. Since there's no real technical info or even an explaination of who's making it and why (is it

This seems to be extremely different to Gerrit. Gerrit requires a centralised server which acts in place of a regular git server. It has its own database, distinct from git, and adds the notion of a "Change ID". Generally you do y
