IIRC I set this up for my grandmother way back in the day because she wanted a netscape/mozilla equivalent. I'd be interested to know what kinds of folks use it today.

Not to disagree with any of your points, I'm skeptical of the proportion of NPs that can safely practice any medicine at all. I've met one competent PA, one PA who didn't understand basic human anatomy, and an PMHNP with a Ph

I think both you and sibling abirch are right in different contexts and I love the contrast in what issues you identify.

Not GP but: Dead bodies? Sure, they're dead. Everything meaningful and special about them is gone.

Google can't figure out how to make an mp3 player that doesn't shit itself randomly (Youtube Music, which I pay for).

In Texas, if you don't get in an accident, cops will rarely spot that your registration is out of date and definitely won't check if you have insurance. If you do get in an accident and are lacking a driver's license and/

In e.g. Texas if they fire you without properly documenting a flimsy non-protected-class-infringing cause, you may be able to draw unemployment. I don't know what the success rate is like for IT workers.

I compulsively left and right click random shit all day. It helps me encounter bugs like steam locking up for a few seconds on Linux if you right click the steam windows or overlay too quickly.

I've been a pain in the ass in quite a few feedback sessions when people brought up a candidate not making "enough" eye contact. Usually I mention that they could be treading into infringing on a protected class and they shut

I could work with good colleagues/"work friends"/acquaintances (all people I truly like in the right context), but I wouldn't want to work with close friends. I think it's sort of related to the feeling I get t

They've been updating single player games with new DRM. Maybe it's not malice towards Linux users specifically, but I'd call it malice towards their customer base.

Just refund it now and buy it again later if they fix it. Refunds will also put a little pressure on.

Sorry, I jumped in because I hadn't seen it before. I agree it's difficult to generalize at this point, I just chafe at the suggestion that homeschooled kids do better overall since I've heard it my whole life and my experien

My observatiom has been that a lot of unschooling families have parents who do it because of their own neuroses and are otherwise ill equipped as parents. Conspiracy theories and fringe religions are common. Emotional manipulation and abuse

I was completely unschooled prior to college and while I did fine in school I was generally very poorly adjusted. I actually don't know a single homeschooled person who came of age nearly as prepared for the world as anyone I know who

I found an small old copy of The Specialist without any attribution in a junk shop a few years ago and went down a short research rabbit hole about Chic Sale. Thanks for the reminder!

Most application webservers (by default) handle one request per thread. For mostly IO bound stuff (which many projects are), it makes sense to me that threads become a bottleneck in relatively ordinary scenarios.

One addition IMO: If anyone in your life tries to push you to seek their validation and do what they think you should (which is mostly just validating themselves), ignore and avoid them, or at least try to knock them down a peg.

I love your sentiment. I've been fighting off the intrusive "when people ask me" thoughts to eliminate the absurd hypothetical shame/embarrassment. I think it's improved my life.
