My guess would be that this would depend on income bracket. My worry if divorced would be splitting up my retirement savings. Alimony would probably be comparatively cheap. Still, most people who get divorced probably have nothing to divide

If you care about your population surviving, you know that a birth rate below 2 is a serious problem that must be solved. Allowing your populace to sedate itself with weed/booze/porn/etc. is the opposite of solving this probl

This isn't really a good answer. "Society" isn't really a unit. The decision to "tolerate" alcohol isn't unanimous, I mean. > If we can tolerate the harms from alcohol, why can't we tolerate the (m

Well, a society that makes deleterious substances illegal is more alive than one that embraces them with open arms. Don't you think?

Why is the argument always "It's less harmful than alcohol..."? Alcohol is definitely bad. What does marijuana have to do with alcohol?

A lot of people would probably be willing to give up a minor drug or alcohol habit to have/keep a high-paying intelligence job. I would certainly accept being "always sober" as a condition of employment if the job was one I r

For an intelligence officer, I would say, yeah, you should probably never be high or drunk. Maybe "never been high/drunk" is too strict. If you're mopping the mess hall, you can probably go home and have a six pack if yo

Like you said, I think looking at younger ages is sufficient. In 1999, teen (15-19) suicide was at around 8/100k, and it's now around 11/100k. It's lower in absolute numbers than in the general population, but there'

One way to cut the nonsense is to look at things that can't be fudged. Suicide is an example. You can't "overdiagnose" suicide unless you outright lie that it happened. The rate for suicide was something like 10/100
