I understand your point now although I think both premises are entirely unreasonable. How about we find wsa to reduce emmisions first? There is no evidence of anyone successfully doing at present. On the second point, I think you’d need to

That sounds alike a pain to have to wait. Out of interest: when people compare US medicine with socialised medicine like the NHS, does the time spend waiting for insurance paperwork get included in comparisons?

I think someone more knowledgeable than me should reply to this, but my understanding is that most medicine is still too complex, with too little data to reliably make machine judgement. We don’t have the training data. The comment is also

Did you read my comment? It’s seems you are back to dichotomising to “just as much meat” Vs véganisme. Why not just eat less meat?! No matter how it’s produced, there is a basic physics to this that means it’s always going to use more land

On iOS, installing vinegar sorts this. You get video pop outs and no ads to boot. It’s much better that the app and seems to give longer battery life (hardware acceleration?)

I think people actually value some of the side effects of privacy on iOS though… one of them is that app developers just can’t be quite as appalling in their abuse of users.

No. Just eat less meat. We eat far more than is needed even according to the (disputed) literature suggesting meat is necessary for a balanced diet. This doesn’t have to be a binary decision.

I mostly agree. Weirdly, coding is actually one of the better things to use it for because it’s trivial to get immediate feedback on how good it was? Does it compile? Was that package it loads hallucinated? Does it pass any tests? I’m sure

I don’t understand this comment so may have this completely wrong. But using Jewish stereotyping in articles about a kind of banking conspiracy theory is something I would avoid though.

No, because any “RMS” set of headers would only be shared by the small number of nerds who care, fingerprinting us more accurately again.

one point is that I may not have any specific sites I care about disassociating myself with. I just don’t want an aggregate picture to be built and sold freely. Cliche example/ I want to be able to buy a pregnancy test online but don’t

But we’re talking here about major corporations who would (largely) follow the law if there was a law with teeth commensurate with the potential rewards form abuse of privacy.

Even if this were the case - which I don’t actually believe, but… - it would be straightforward for that law to also constrain these purposes and prevent data sharing with non-worthy operations. At present it’s basically a free for all.

I think one effect of LLMs and their limited context will be the end of DRY. I’ve already found myself getting gpt to write stuff for me that could have been part of or leveraged existing code with a little more thinking. But the barrier to

I see your point, but I still think this is a matter of preference and priorities. I stand by the original argument that for most people, a minor twitch of their fingers on the trackpad reveals this information if they want it. I very rarel

Note though that near infrared also carries a risk of cataracts. I think they used to call it ‘glass blower’s eye’ because looking at the furnace was a high dose of near IR. Modern IR heaters use much longer wavengths.
