I've literally never been asked my college GPA, let alone high school. My first job out of school wanted to know that I had a degree, which I did, and asked me practical questions. Every job since has asked me about previous jobs and t

Webster defines "missile" as "capable of being thrown or projected to strike a distant object" -- the modern use I think came from "guided missile," but in practice we've dropped the guided in most cases.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My kids love Technoblade. He's one of the few streamers I know by name. Gone far too soon.

There's a pretty wide gap, though, between "nicely representable in rust" and "mechanically translatable from the C++ implementation" that mostly requires human effort to span.

It's a little nuts to me how many articles cite the $10 billion price tag as astronomical when we spent that in maybe 2 weeks during the peak of the Iraq War, and for what?

Seeing Night Watch at the Rijksmuseum a decade or so ago totally changed my view of seeing things in a museum vs. seeing them online. I'm a child of the internet and had this view that seeing it on my screen was good enough, but wow is

I randomly bought The Heart of Buddha’s Teaching two decades ago at my university bookstore and it changed me forever. I’m not a Buddhist today but I’d like to think the core principles are still there. A tremendous loss.

Over the weekend I wrote a tool to help me figure this out: https://github.com/biesnecker/wordlesmith Wordle's wordlist is interesting. There is a large (~10,000 words) list of words that it will accept as guesses
