"Pointing out inaccurate information" in HN comments is not scientific debate, nor a science.

Trivia: at some point (around IE8, I believe) Google released a plug-in to Internet Explorer called IEFrame that displayed supported pages inside IE window, but using Chrome underneath. It was fairy popular.

I think the reason why MS did nothing with IE6 dominance was that they didn’t want the web to be a viable alternative to Windows/win32/.NET. Or, perhaps, they didn’t believe it could be and as such it wasn’t worth further investme

First off, I would set the strict max 30 minutes time limit for each and every meeting. If it’s not enough to solve something: do a follow up next day but ask everyone to prepare properly. Or just move the discussion to emails. 2nd: be an a

I hate Drupal as much as the next guy, but I have to defend one thing about it: it doesn't have to be slow, and it doesn't have to have jQuery. Just get rid of all of the bloatware that comes out of the box, and then don't so

Yeah, this is more and more popular. Apple has this built in on their product pages, and recently I saw it on Sonos’ website too. You can even preview some cars using AR. A photo with a new McLaren next to your garage adds a lot of credibil

I’d assume so. Back in primary school I got a friend who was pretty much perfect at claw machines (and at Tekken). Later I’ve noticed they made it more difficult (shorter timelimit, limited number of moves, etc.), but never expected they wo

The are lotteries with bigger chances, but in all of them some numbers will be repeated over the years, and yours may never occur. You would have to use all possible combination for one draw to be sure. That's why it's not unusual

If you touch a parcel a second time then the first time doesn't count to anything. It's 1/10k again. It's like with a lottery: you can buy a coupon every day for years and win nothing, because every draw resets your chan

I’m not sure you can count the probability this way. Each touch is a separate event, and for each touch you have 1 in 10000 chance of infection. So, it’s 1 * 720 / 10000 * 720.

I believe no one actually says "we don't want to pay", it's more like "we don't want to pay 30% of our income". I could eventually live with a one-time 30% tax, but taking that much for a recurring payment

It was a big hit in the US, where Nokia was non existent. For a lot of folks this was their very first mobile phone, I’d say the equivalent of Nokia 3210/3310 in Europe. But yeah, unlike Nokia this wasn’t the best device on the market.

But it's cheap. Had it been priced at 1500 USD, and had Windows 10 instead of Android - well, at very least the pen wouldn't be so laggy, and there would be software. And then, perhaps, there would be something akin to haptic feed

I am pretty sure that ICE cars will survive as a hobby, that is: on the dedicated racetracks. On one hand it might get prohibitively expensive (track days are, already), on the other: since it will be the only way to enjoy driving a V8, etc

I’d argue that the very first Unreal was a game first, a tech demo later. So was Unreal Tournament (based on Unreal Engine 1, IIRC), Unreal Tournament 2003, and – this one for sure – Gears of War. Maybe I wouldn’t call them Quake rips thoug

How much of the China's footprint is generated for manufacturing stuff for the developed nations? We may have 100% clean energy locally only because we've outsourced the dirty one.

No, the world doesn't really need to strive for economic growth. IPhones sales not growing year over year is not a disaster for anyone, really. Same for Amazon market share, and so on. And yet: it is, because the system works this way.

IANAL but cutting you off your everyday job and crucial documents (causing stress, money problems, hopefully not: unemployment) only because you happened to open an account in a random country seems like a reason good enough for a lawsuit.
