Coursera is now doing entirely online degrees from real universities for a fraction of the cost. Shout out to them.

You're mixing up a lot of things. Child abuse is a physical act and isn't speech. Recruitment and instructional videos are speech. Assange is speech, but, he wasn't a journalist with protections for handling secret informatio

Let's start another NASA then and double the benefits? Maybe ten of them for ten times the benefits? Because it doesn't work like that. This is nonsense and ignores the opportunity costs and all the negatives of taxation and borro

I'll take my own advice: Everyone at ICE is a fascist pig white supremacist bootlicker racist subhuman. There, is that better? No it's not. Maybe if rationality was accepted we wouldn't end up in these us vs. them meme wars.

Logic and rationality aren't part of public discourse right now. You have to be politically correct in public, including here on HN.

I'm sad Ruby has been, or is, left behind by python. There are lots of little reasons but no real big one. I just love ruby. I love little things like 'unless'. I know it's still with us, but still feels a little sad.

If you use openSCAD for 3d printing then you'll love hob3l It takes OpenSCAD files and generates meshes vastly faster for complex models. https://github.com/moehriegitt/hob3l

Normally I'd agree but there's something weird about social media that brings out the worst in people. It's kind of automatically polarizing and divisive.

The SEC thing is a smokescreen. There is no reason to go to or via the SEC for their rebuttal, if anything they're just trying to get ahead of the PR nightmare of the SEC going to them. Them staying silent and sending info to the SEC i

Thanks. I find this whole area fascinating. It feels like if there was a way to make molded parts cheaper it would open up a large gulf in between "$300 3d printer" and "$15k for one mold and BTW you need 5 molds for your thi

The reality is always far worse. A brand new Model 3 will do 310 miles of range. Only you're not supposed to use the top 10% or bottom 10% unless you absolutely have to, to avoid damaging the battery. So now it's 248 miles of rang

From memory he's said that the conversion of antimatter in the supposed thermoelectric generator was near 100%. Maybe he waved his hands and said 100%. On the other hand we've had something like 5 theories of gravity since the daw
