The part where it says that parking_lot's Mutex is faster then std's is obsolete since 1.62.0 IIRC.

I'm as tired as you by these cosmetic successors. But for my part I think C++ has already been replaced, and to great benefits. I couldn't thank the people building Rust enough.

Also this depends on the color calibration of your computer and monitor chain, so merging adjacent colors would effectively be a good idea.

Exactly. I had an open (read/write) ftp server in beginning of the nineties. It was nice, people could put files in there, retrieve what they wanted. By the middle of the nineties I had to write-protect everything and leave only an &qu

Linux will probably get some Rust parsers in the future, which are IMHO even better because they are easy to write so you're sure they are robust - whereas formally verifying a parser may or may not be done depending on the coder'

I do, via my Nextcloud install. But I wanna say HN is a real pain to read via RSS, mainly because of dupes.

My manager told me exactly the same thing as you do; after I found a few UB in its code in the first 2 weeks he changed its stance.

Yeah no. In my experience, when several people commit to a common C/C++ codebase this kind of issue become really exhausting when it happens more than once, and the symptoms may be so subtle it's a bitch to debug. Rust lowers your

I don't find the name very nice: there's too much potential of mixing it with "doit" with a capital "d" and a capital "i".

Yes but ICE cars will get more and more expensive to operate as the infrastructure (repair shops and gas stations) disappear, and EU cities will totally ban them (they already start to restrict them). All in all, in the EU you are quite p

Very original: a recruiter found me on LinkedIn. And also the next one (contract signed, still in the prior notice period) has been found like that.

Very nice, but there probably shouldn't be a setting for this and it should be the default behavior. I hate it when there are tons of unintelligible knobs on an application if everything could be computed automatically.

Well they asked everyone to agree on a standard 10 years ago, but that didn't happen (just because of Apple). So now they forcefully decided.

Except in Rust you nearly never write a destructor. Unless you have very specific needs it's always generated automatically for you.

Same thing in e.g. Rust: you can either monomorphize (expand code for each generic it's used with), use dynamic dispatch via a vtable or (with help from a crate) dispatch via an enum. Each solution has its tradeoffs, you are empowered

You're not really hungry, you're a sugar addict. I know that doesn't solve the problem. But try treating this as an addiction, it will help.

You could use TiVec[1], TiSlice[1] or TiBitset[2] (shameless plug) to have datastructures indexed by the type you need, all checked at compile type. All you need is a From/Into implementation for your chosen index type. 1: https:&#x
