Yes and you can alter this behavior either globally (with compile options) or locally (by using specific types).

I (roughly) hear it on the tune of "video killed the radio stars". Yes I'm old.

Nope, it's power management. It's not implemented yet, so the laptop doesn't sleep and doesn't even throttle. "In the future" it should work though.

You could install NixOS on your Mac. I've installed Debian, some use Fedora; you just use the Asahi installer to repartition and install the kernel, and after that you can isntall your distro of choice (not super easy though).

"Dell XPS" is too generic a term to be useful. I've got an old XPS 13 which works perfectly; I also got a newer XPS 15 (top of the line, 4500€) which never managed to sleep correctly (thanks to Intel s0ix hybrid-suspend) and

See my other comment; wifi works well, power management doesn't work at all.

They know what to do, it just requires work and coordination with the upstream linux kernel (extending the PSCI api); still it's not done. But don't get mistaken, I like this machine very much. When it works, it works fast and ver

Hint: it's not. I'm not asking much though: I just need a linux laptop which is fast (lots of rust compilations) and can stay for a whole day unplugged. Thunderbolt connectivity to dock it at home (and use bigger screens) would be

Of course the french system is flawed, but at least its founding principle is to give everyone the same chance. Starting your life with a different education depending on your wealth is shocking.

A different education system if you're poor or rich ? From a french point of view, that's horrible. A sure good way for keeping a class system.

I used it for a few days, but the not-quite-vim keybindings also destroyed my workflow - I'm a slow learner, took me a while to figure out the few vim commands I know and I hate to relearn everything a bit differently.

Yeah, because they are only this advanced because they stole US technology. Chinese people can't be as intelligent as american.

IS this thing able to be used as a Kodi box and decode all modern codec (HDR+UltraSuperDuper) ?

I find all of this too error-prone. Just use a proper serializer/deserializer for the format you need (e.g. urlencode) and stop approximating this. If you approximate it's a recipe for disaster (read: exploits by script kiddies).

Yes Helix has its own keybidings which may be nicer but need learning. I would have made it my daily driver if it had classic (n)vim bidings.

Plus early on you couldn't turn off the screen from the PC, only the physical button worked. We had to wait for VESA blanking IIRC to have something working. So either your screen was always on, or you printed moving pattern to avoid b

I feel you. I'd really like a way for "as" to be transformed into "try_into().unwrap()", say in a later edition. Or even just "into()" which would throw a nice compile-time error - This is the Rust Way.

I once inherited a Verilog-A interpreter made by some guys at Motorola. My boss said the code was awful, I found it really nice, structured and well commented. I ripped it off and replaced with a compiler with waay better performance. It wa
