It's quite possible AMD has plans for this type of thing as well: despite their cores being more energy efficient and powerful per watt than Intel, I don't think they can match Apple yet (some of that is due to 5 nm process though

They have, haven't they? And officially it was never supported. The article even mentions it: some BIOSs had the ability to override it, but it sounds like that's been disabled in the microcode?

Other than obvious stuff like differences in features (AVX512 - although I thought that wasn't even officially supported at one point even though they haven't disabled it?) between the P and E cores, how does ARM manage it with bi

There are other things it's been used for like optimising roughening/regularisation parameters for light transport in order to provide better caustics with forwards path tracing: https://diglib.eg.org/handle/1

I've never persevered with immediate-mode UIs deeply enough to get to the point I needed to solve this, given I mostly deal with complex nested UIs and in my (possibly limited/incomplete?) experience, immediate-like UIs don't

A lot of demand for housing (both to buy and rent), and in my experience (live in Wellington) a lot of the newer apartments being built seem very much architected with buy to let in mind, so I think renting is a large part of it, along with

In Wellington at least (where I live), there are limits on the density of housing that can be built (and height). Recently, the council was going to free up some of these restrictions a bit, but there was a lot of backlash by residents who

Wasn't it Mozilla who wanted this general change, so they could provide more up-to-date versions more easily, and more directly?

Data from sources like GMTED2010 or SRTM15+ is often float32 or even float64: whether it needs to be is another question, but float16 often isn't sufficient in terms of magnitude accuracy (IEEE), and as you mention you often need negat

Why's it slightly noisy? It never resolves to clean when the camera's still, so it doesn't seem to be MC noise for something like ambient occlusion or raytracing/pathtracing, so I assume it's just a 2D effect on top

Blender's not really used at the high-end facilities... It doesn't really scale that well on large scenes, and only had a Python3 API - VFX studios have only really moved to Python 3 this year.

Indeed: Most of the artists at the high-end VFX studios (Weta, ILM, Framestore, MPC, DNEG, etc) are using Linux workstations and have been for years. There's still a bit of Windows (for ZBrush), and other more smaller studios use Windo
